Lisbon Office for Architecture & Design is an Architecture Practice founded in Portugal, with an international multidisciplinary team working on a wide range of architecture projects from masterplanning to residential, building renovation, and interior architecture.
Our concepts are based on the unique aspects of each project, as well as their context and client needs. Our mission is to create a timeless architecture, sensible to the optimization of local resources and sustainable construction methods.
Filipa George
Co-Founder | Architect
Filipa graduated from Oxford Brookes University (RIBA Part I) in 2007, before completing her Diploma in Architecture RIBA Part II from the University of Westminster in 2010, followed by RIBA Part III in 2012. She did her first work experience in Aires Mateus & Associados in Lisbon and after finishing her Diploma she joined Foster + Partners in London.

In Foster + Partners she was involved in projects of master planning, and mixed use, residential and interiors, including VietinBank Business Centre in Hanoi and Mount Kiara in Kuala Lumpur. She was later part of the core team for Bloomberg Headquarters in London, which won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2018.
In 2014 she joined Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates where she helped coordinate the project for Goldman Sachs Headquarters in London.

She returned to Lisbon in 2016 where she was an Associate Architect in Broadway Malyan, developing several projects in Portugal in the areas of tourism, F&B, Hospitality and Interiors, including the competition winning entry for the sustainable food court of Beato Creative Hub.

In 2020 she joined Francisco to co-found LOA_D Lisbon Office for Architecture & Design, where they develop projects for building renovation, residential, housing and interiors.
Filipa was a member of Architect’s Registration Board until 2016 and she is now a member of OA, the Portuguese Institute of Architects.
Francisco Pinto Basto

Francisco graduated in Architecture from UAL Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa in 2007, finishing his Post-Grad Diploma in 2009, before starting his professional work experience in Atelier João Almeida e Pedro Ferreira Pinto.

In 2009 he joined Foster + Partners in London where he became an Associate Architect, taking part and actively leading project teams in masterplanning, residential, mixed use, transport & infrastructures.
During his last years at F+P in London, he developed and coordinated the project for the new Panama Airport which he followed up to completion. With F+P he was also involved in several competition winning entries such as West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, the Shanghai Expo Masterplan, Hellinikon Airport Site masterplan in the heart of Athens, and Slussen Masterplan in Stockholm, where he played a major role in the project development and coordination up to completion.

Francisco returned to Lisbon in the end of 2017 and founded Pinto Basto Architecture, where he began to develop projects in Portugal in the sectors of renovation, residential, retail and office, with a major focus in housing.
In 2020, he founded LOA_D Lisbon Office for Architecture & Design along with Filipa, where they develop larger scale projects in the areas of housing, residential and building renovation.
Francisco was a member of Architect’s Registration Board until 2017 and he has been a member of OA, the Portuguese Institute of Architects, since 2014.
